A RIVER RUNS THROUGH IT!! QUOTES!

"Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it. The river was cut by the world's great flood and runs over rocks from the basement of time. On some of the rocks are timeless raindrops. Under the rocks are the words, and some of the words are theirs. I am haunted by waters. "

-I think that this qoute is trying to explain the passion that he has for flyshing and its basically saying that he the raindrops are him and when he hits the rock he knows exactly what he wants to do and that is to flysish. There waters scare him because its such a rush when he gets to fish that it is a scary feeling.

"Of course, now I am too old to be much of a fisherman, and now of course I usually fish the big waters alone, although some friends think I shouldn't. Like many fly fishermen in western Montana where the summer days are almost Arctic in length, I often do not start fishing until the cool of the evening. Then in the Arctic half-light of the canyon, all existence fades to a being with my soul and memories and the sounds of the Big Blackfoot River and a four-count rhythm and the hope that a fish will rise."

- This tells me that flyfishing wasnt only a hobby of his, and wasnt only a phase he was going through, it tells me that after his whole life he is still wanting to flyfish and wants to do it until he is no longer there to fish anymore, and even though his friends tell him not to do it he still does it anyways because its a passion and its who he is.

"I am in love with Montana . . . Montana seems to me to be what a small boy would think Texas is like from hearing Texans. "

- When you hear a texan talk you can tell where he is really from and how he was raised, just by hearing the way he talked and how he talked. When you hear a person from montana talk you hear what he has done his whole life and how it affects him today, they may not have a certain way of talking like texans do but the way they will talk about somthing such as where they live then you can tell where they are from and how they live there life.

"My father was very sure about certain matters pertaining to the universe. To him, all good things--trout as well as eternal salvation--come by grace and grace comes by art and art does not come easy. "

-Meaning that flyfishing is an art you ca not learn it over night and not everone can do it. You have to know what you are doing and have to be interested in it, you cant just think its going to grow on you, and you have to have a passion for it.
